Join Margherita, your native Italian language tutor, and Chef Lorenzo for a hands-on Gnocchi Ossolani experience from the heart of Val d’Ossola, a picturesque valley in Northern Italy known for its culinary traditions and unique mountain ingredients. This class combines traditional Italian cooking with rich cultural insight, giving you a true taste of local heritage while practising your Italian.

What You’ll Experience:​

  • Begin with a brief cultural introduction by Margherita, learning about the origins of Gnocchi Ossolani, the unique traditions of the Val d'Ossola and the famous Bettelmatt cheese, a prized local specialty.

  • Chef Lorenzo will demonstrate and teach each step of making your own gnocchi, guiding everyone in the class through the process.

  • Once your gnocchi are prepared, Lorenzo will take over, leading an authentic Italian tasting experience, featuring gnocchi served with a porcini mushroom cream and the Bettelmatt cheese from the valley.

  • Throughout the class, you’ll gain cultural insight into this precious regional tradition, while Margherita introduces you to useful Italian culinary vocabulary. Helping you practise the language in a fun, relaxed, and practical way.

Italian Pizza-Making & Language Experience

Join us for a unique and immersive Italian pizza-making experience led by Margherita, your native Italian language tutor, and Chef Lorenzo, a professional chef from Italy. This 3-hour masterclass takes place in a stunning barn converted into a beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, nestled in a picturesque countryside location. Here, you’ll learn the art of crafting authentic Italian pizza from scratch - all while practising Italian language skills!

What You’ll Experience:

  • Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by Margherita, who will begin with a brief presentation on the origins of pizza and its cultural significance in Italy.

  • Once you’ve donned your apron, Chef Lorenzo will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating the perfect pizza dough.

  • You’ll learn all about rising times, the best Italian flours to use, and UK-based equivalents you can find locally.

  • You’ll prepare a batch of dough to take home with you, so you can recreate the magic in your own kitchen.

  • We’ll then practise the skill of hand-stretching the dough — a vital technique to ensure a lighter, airier crust with superior texture.

  • Once your base is ready, it’s time to relax and enjoy a degustazione (tasting) of traditional pizza flavours.

  • Chef Lorenzo will prepare a selection of pizzas using a stone-baked oven, demonstrating the ideal cooking temperature and dough consistency.

  • A variety of toppings have been carefully chosen to give you the most authentic Italian experience, with everyone having the chance to sample each one.

  • Throughout the class, Margherita will introduce you to useful Italian culinary vocabulary, helping you practise the language in a fun, relaxed, and practical way.
